2 Chronicles 16:9a ESV
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.”
After multiple heart tests, my cardiologist told me that I would need an ablation to fix my erratic heart rates. At first, I put it off not wanting to go through with an outpatient heart procedure. As time passed, though, I could barely talk when my heart rate would rise or drop suddenly. An electrical issue needed repair so my heart could function normally. I could not continue to tolerate the weakness from these unexpected heart episodes, so I agreed to the care of an expert.
As our Creator and Great Physician, God is looking for people who need support. 2 Chronicles 16:9 reminds us that the Lord’s eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. The Lord’s purpose is to give us strong support which is to aid, to catch, to help, to mend, to recover and to repair us.
Just as my physical heart muscle needed repair, I’m realizing that my spiritual heart has to also be restored and ready for God’s purpose which is to strengthen me. Day to day struggles tend to weaken and wind me. I need to make an effort to have a quiet and peaceful heart, especially when my emotional heart rate feels erratic and unsettled. I can ask Jesus to be my peace in the middle of trouble. My heart must trust in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. He made me whole and complete so I must believe by faith that I am lacking nothing.
I also need divine support in handling emotions which reside in my heart. When I face the unknown and experience uneasiness, I can replace the fear by asking the Holy Spirit to fill me with peace. His presence repairs and mends my baffled mind and broken heart. Where there is a place of uncertainty, I can trust Him by faith. I believe and then receive His power to restore and heal my weakness.
It is the purpose of God to show himself strong in the earth to those whose hearts are committed to Him. He helps me withstand the pressures through time spent in the Word and in prayer and catches me from falling into despair. My emotions and passions can lead me away to only see the problem but His purpose is to give me Himself, his grace and his truth (John 1:14).
Have you recognized a weak area in your heart that causes you trouble? Ask Jesus to be your constant help and for the Holy Spirit to restore you. If you have felt like the bottom has dropped out from under you like my heart rate would do, then you probably have felt spiritually out of breath and in need of support. We don’t have to continue living with a spiritual heart condition that leads to fear and sleepless nights. He is seeking to find your heart that is open to his restoration.
Father,
I know I can trust you to accomplish your will and purpose in my life. My emotions race from one scenario to another which makes me feel weak and in need of stability. Would you make me whole again? Your perfect peace is what I need to keep me safe and secure as I face this situation. You are mighty to save and to establish my coming and my going. Please strengthen, repair and encourage me. Thank you for your gift of salvation which by faith I receive. You make all things new. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
A healthy physical and spiritual heart go together so well 🙂
This is a great analogy, Lisa. Thanks for sharing from your heart. 💕
